The Dorchester Daybed - Brown Cherry blends a bevy of popular furniture styles: Colonial, Pennsylvania Dutch, Mission. And the design of this piece is breathtaking and versatile. This daybed will work in any room - eclectic or traditional. Just dress it up in your favorite ensemble to give it your personal design touch. Made of solid pine, this daybed's elegant outwardly curved arms have a height of 30 inches. Clearance underneath the bed is 14-16 inches, depending on the alignment holes used, and a warm and inviting Brown Cherry finish. The clearance is large enough to store the optional trundle underneath. The recommended weight for either the daybed support system or optional trundle is 200-250 pounds. Some assembly required. Note: Trundle and mattress are both optional and not included with the basic set. To include, select in the Value Package field.
A trundle is an extra mattress frame stored beneath a daybed, which slides out to provide additional sleeping space when needed. Daybeds.com's optional trundle packages include a metal, pop-up trundle. They can be left in the lowered position or elevated in the pop-up position to align with the primary daybed mattress. The pop-up feature allows the daybed to transform from a twin-size daybed into a king -size bed.
Optional mattress is the Orthopedic Back Aid Mattress. This quality mattress features a Sta-rite quilted cotton/polyester pad and a patented Aerolife bonded cotton pad made with high-performance fibers that extend the life of the mattress. Rolled inner spring coils take the pressure off your back, while a Damask quilted layer on one side enhances your comfort. Twin size measures 75L x 39W x 7.5H inches. Carries a three-year manufacturer's warranty.

This pine bed is stronger, lighter, and better looking than particle board box beds. Buy a twin mattress, free mattress works but is thin foam only. Mistake on the instruction paper - to correct use 4 short bolts to attach back, 8 long bolts, nuts, washers, and lock washers to attach link spring to bed. Instructions to assemble link spring are on the plastic parts bag and are correct. Metal "ears" bolt to slots on link spring, push inward before tightening to make sure link spring is not too long to fit the bed. Bolt link spring to bed at lowest point to avoid bed being too high.

I have bought the bed for my guest room, which will also double for a small couch. This bed is very nice looking unfortunately there were some problems with the assembly. First, I had to wait two weeks from when the first part to arrive, the mattress, until all the other peices arrived. Once all four pieces had arrived, I found that there were no instructions for how to put the thing together. Next issue was that four of the eight nuts and five of the eight bolts where missing from the spings. There was a hole in the bag that was just taped to the inside of the cardboard that was only on the ends of the springs when shipped. So I ended up going to [@] find the missing parts which are not the same and not sure if it will work in the long run. Next problem is after attatching the sides and the springs together, I found it difficult to add the back. I took one side of the springs off to add the back and then had to work at getting the springs reattatched. Again, instructions would have been very helpful with the assembly of the bed.

The bed came in three different packages: the metal support, the daybed back and the daybed sides. The wooden back and wooden sides were two completely different colors of wood. One was a red cherry and the other looked more like a walnut. I have returned the sides and reordered to see if the second shipment will match. If not I am returning the whole bed. Also, the whole daybed was a lot less sturdy than I had hoped.

I see why they give you a "free" mattress. It is very, very thin. It arrived in a box half it's size and it was folded in half! Unreal.... ! I never saw a mattress come that way and I don't even think our dog would think it is comfortable.....
