Whether you decide on a daybed because it's versatile and compact, or you like the way it looks, you'll want to be sure to select a mattress that fits your needs. When selecting a mattress, think about the daybed's great features and the type of mattress you usually prefer.

Daybed Mattress Features
A traditional box spring or bed rail is not needed with a daybed because the daybed uses a steel frame support called a link spring. This system allows a lot of room under the bed for storage and pop-up trundle or drawer. If you decide on a trundle, you will want two twin size mattresses. A pop-up trundle provides double the sleeping area. The trundle is stored underneath the daybed when not in use. When you want to use the trundle it easily pulls out and pops up to securely hold the two mattresses together. This will give you a king size sleeping area.
Daybed Mattress Types
A daybed mattress will most often measure no higher than 8 inches. Any higher than this and you will not be able to clear a trundle and it will also sit too high on the frame. Daybed mattresses are made specifically for comfort and support. A foam core mattress offers plush softness while an innerspring coil unit mattress gives firmer support and a cozier sitting surface.
Once you've picked out the perfect mattresses for your daybed, you can enjoy the comfort and beauty a daybed offers.
